This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account. Test issue in another user (or guest user) account This test will tell you if third party interference extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.
In Safe mode third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled, it removes malware, etc hampering smooth operation, however a reboot will put it back to normal mode. Reboot as normal and test as caches get rebuilt. Takes noticeable longer to get to the login screen, does a 5-15 minute disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, etc. Press and hold these keys together: Shift, Command, 4, and Space bar. You can also choose the option to change the folder. Shift Control Command 3 still takes it to Clipboard as expected. Open the window or menu that you want to capture. Press Command ()+Control+Shift+3, to save the screenshot to clipboard, and further use it somewhere else. I have had no issue on Big Sur in this regard, old or new way. However the other "Save to" features work as in the past. No - its there but nothing happens when I attempt to capture.
